I also have used PT for years. I type one handed due to an injury to one of my hands. PT made AOL so much more easier for me to use. The spell check feature is fabulous. I often hit two keys at once or make typos. PT spell check catches most of them. I'm not upgrading AOL. When PT no longer functions with AOL......bye bye AOL.

Like all the other posts - I will stop using aol when powertools disapears. I am using PT 12.0.38 and to date, everything continues to work (thank god).
The one feature I love is the tabbed power IMs - are there any other programs that tab the IMs into one window? Secondarily, the chat room manager rocks.
Any suggestions for a PT replacement would be appreciated.
Tom

This is kind of epic. I had no idea this was going on with BPS or PT til stumbling upon this forum. Thank you all for keeping it going for those of us who are a little delayed. I severely wish to have another program like that. If there are any suggestions for a suitable logger email me at darkantiquities@yahoo.com and make the subject line to the effect of the new logger to replace PT. Linzie, I too did not know power tools closed down. A few months back, links on my PT desktop didn't work and I figured that they were not on AOL but on the internet and now I have found out that is true. I didn't know AOL had a newer version than 9.0 SE. I figured once AOL went free that they were not going to update their versions. But then again I don't have Vista (and never will). I guess 9.0SE doesn't work with Vista?? So since my AOL if FREE with my bring your own service, I keep 9.0SE and PT 12.0.37. (didn't know there was a 38). I will not be upgrading my aol so that my aol and pt will continue to work as normal. The only reason I have kept aol is for the chat and friends. My sentiment echos all those before me. PT has been the best program going for AOL since the beginning. I have had PT going back to I can't remember when. But I had PT 8 something and even then it was the bomb! I love my PT and am glad that so far I have had no problems running it. AOL is slowly going downhill. I'm glad I don't pay for it.

HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO PURCHASE PT IF THEY ARE NO LONGER IN BUSINESS? I AM NEW TO PT AND AOL... I HAVE THE TRIAL VERSION OF PT VERSION 12.

Ok... so if we can't purchase it, will it continue to run after the 20 day trial or will we have to reinstall it?

Ok... so if we can't purchase it, will it continue to run after the 20 day trial or will we have to reinstall it? After the trial period is up, you'll need to uninstall it. Reinstalling PowerTools again will not re-issue you another trial period.

I suppose the Free Faders 9 and 10 are ok if you just want the faded fonts and a few macro's. Multi tools is slightly better but nothing can really replace PTs.
My friend has brought me forth from the trial period (sent me the actual PT 12.0) so I should be ok. But for those who don't have anyone the legacy of BPS Powertools will be forgotten. Forever doomed to the depths of the cyber ocean.

I like many other fateful users of Powertools have lost the registration number. I can help you get your registration number. I'll need you to do a couple of things: 1. Repost this into a new thread (directions below) 2. Give me your Master AOL Screen Name you used to purchase PowerTools with. In the event that name is NO longer active (you can no longer sign onto that account), I can have a replacement registration number issued to you. I would need the following: OLD Master Screen Name NEW Master Screen Name [Master Screen Name = The first name listed at Keyword: NAMES] To start a new thread: From the main BPS Software Help Forum website, click on PowerTools for AOL > Other PowerTools features. On the large red bar, click on the " New Thread" icon on the right side.

Bterry51 said, Start a new thread and just request a lookup of your PowerTools 12 registration number. You'll need to post the Master SN that PowerTools is registered for. [Master Screen Name = The first name listed at Keyword: NAMES] To start a new thread: From the main BPS Software Help Forum website, click on PowerTools for AOL > Other PowerTools features. On the large red bar, click on the " New Thread" icon on the right side.

I went to www.bpssoft.com because I just got the newest version of AOL and I wanted to see if there was another upgrade and saw that the website was gone. I was lucky to find these boards on the search engine. I have used PT since AOL 3.0 in 1997. It's very sad that they are gone and it has been a wild 11 years that I've had my computer. PT was the greatest and I will miss it.

hwoodcats said,
You can still download PowerTools (and other BPS Software titles) using the link within my signature line.
It's important to note that production of all programs stopped April 11th of last year and no further updates will be made available. That being said, PowerTools is NOT compatible with the following:
Windows Vista AOL 9.0 VR (Vista Ready)
