ummm Jeromy, I have a different master sn on my pt account, but I no longer have that account. Is that why I can't install the incentive pack for pt 10??? I would really like the incentive pack but I also am missing my other wavs and bitmaps as well.

I'm running PT 10 with AOL 8.0, primarily because Power Places in PT11/12 doesn't have the nice
I dread the day when PT will completely stop working with AOL, as the two working together form my complete desktop for everything I do.
In looking ahead to that day and searching for replacements, I found only bits and pieces. 1. Power Places can be replaced with Mozilla Firefox, as it has a hierarchical structure and top tool bar similar to PT. An add in allows application launch buttons as well as links. The description is more limited than PT, but overall it's 80% there. 2. Address book, being Access, can be converted to a normal access database if you have Access installed, but it won't have the functions which link to AOL. 3. Customer Editor the same but neat things like sending to a chatroom or inserting in email or an IM won't be available. 4. Chat and IM logging appears to be available though WaveMan or other programs. 5. All the other neat functions in PT eg action files, enhanced buddy list, enhanced chatroom, etc don't appear replaceable.
All in all, I hate to see PT go. Fewer and fewer functions work with AOL. I imagine AOL will do away with their own Chatrooms and IM's as they move more to an internet portal operation and eventually PT will not boot up with AOL

BPS Software closed.... therefore the library, and all the files located within it, are no longer available.

I have been using Power Tools for AOL for many years and have become used to it with it's many enhancements to AOL I am still using version 12.o.37 with AOL 9.0. Would like to upgrade my AOL, but I do not want to give up Power Tools. Do I have an alternative.

Power Tools was the best software value I have ever seen and I have been using computers since the early 1980's. I started with a Tandy Model 1, long before AOL. It saddens me so much to see PT going away. I have tried WavMan and it doesn't come close to PT. I have searched the web looking for something that might be as good, but apparently there is nothing. WavMan will do logging, but that was not my main reason for using it. I just liked the way it gave the chatroom so many features, such as suppressing that HUGE ad that AOL puts in the bottom right that takes away from the room list space. With PT I could usually see the entire room list without having to scroll. ALSO, I could adjust the font size and color of individuals. That was a wonderful feature. That it kept a permanent Ignore list so I did not have to re-ignore those I didn't like was really great. I have tried chat rooms on other services but nothing compares to what PT did for AOL. It just appeared to be a part of the AOL program rather than having tool bars that you had to continually move around. The way it handled IM's was really neat. I believe that AOL is doing something like that at last, but it's a poor imitation. As poor as AOL is it should be begging PT to come back. I seriously doubt that I will continue AOL when it gets to the point that I can't use PT. I thing the reason more people weren't buying PT was they really had no idea how wonderful it was. It was the best software value I have ever seen. I do believe it would have sold at 4 times the price they charged. I would have paid that. And one other thing. I was a Host and a Guide. PT furnished us with tools for that job....absolutely free. With as many Hosts and Guides that were on AOL the company could have made a sizeable profit, but they chose to do it for free. I have to say that is an unusual thing in this day and age. Also not charging for each and every update, except the major ones, which were required because AOL would do it's updating, is another plus. I did not mind paying for the new ones at all. I still thought it was a good value and I understand that a lot of work went into doing all that. Once again, PT was THE best software value to that I have ever see and I have been using computers since the early 1980's.

This is kind of epic. I had no idea this was going on with BPS or PT til stumbling upon this forum. Thank you all for keeping it going for those of us who are a little delayed. I severely wish to have another program like that. If there are any suggestions for a suitable logger email me at darkantiquities@yahoo.com and make the subject line to the effect of the new logger to replace PT.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN GET MY POWER TOOLS TO WORK AGAIN, MY COMPUTER CRASHED AND POWER TOOLS WANTS THE REGISTRATION NUMBER AGAIN AND I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE.... Simply make a new post and request the registration number to be looked up. You'll need to include the Master SN (first screen name listed at Keyword: NAMES) to get an accurate number. To start a new thread: From the main BPS Software Help Forum website, click on PowerTools for AOL > Other PowerTools features. On the large red bar, click on the " New Thread" icon on the right side.

I've been using some game scoring freeware from Mike Singer at SingersCreations.com for several years. He also has a chat hosting tool with the ability to send macroes from up to 7 groups within itself. Sadly, he no longer supports that and several other utilities he wrote while in college, but even without the promise of support, I've had not a moments' worth of trouble with the Winscorer utility I got from him. I'm not sure if he'd still do it, but I slipped him some extra skins back in 2003 to rewrite the thing so it would score in double digits.

I need help. I'm lost in AOL without the nice address book in PowerTools. All my notes and numbers and details about everyone I've talked to for 10 or so years is in my PT address book. Are there any Vista-compatible programs that have address book functionality like PT? I really find AOL cumbersome without PT! I love Vista so far, EXCEPT for this program not working!
