I am running the latest version of PowerTools. I have experienced several "blue-screens" and wondered if anyone else has had this problem. I have also had several "application hangs....I have plenty of memory--1gig and plenty of hard drive space. So I know that's not the problem!! HELP!!!!!

Does this happen only when running AOL and PowerTools, or when running other programs too? Also, have you tried running AOL without PowerTools? Any problem then? Does this usually occur when using particular features or performing certain tasks, or randomly?
Could you also post the BPS System Information Report?
1. Click on START > Point to (All) Programs > BPS Software > Select "BPS System Info". 2. Once this utility loads, and the fields fill with text, click on the "Copy to Clipboard" button. 3. In your reply message board post, simply right-click > Select Paste.

I am new here so i dont know where to post this problem.. we made a new room and had to keep a computer online 24/7 due to harrasment/ hijackers of the room and one that insists on come in regardless of the fact that he isnt like due to the way he treats people and disrupts the room. I did this with power tools on my computer for 2 days with reboots from time to time. 3rd day it started to hang with the screen saver so I turned that off. then it did it without it and hung up my whole computer and had to be rebooted after only a few hours. 3 times.. so I signed off and started some maintenance deletiing temp files, virus scan etc. after now I cant even sign on with bp at all it hangs as soon as aol signs on.. cant close it cant go to power button or anything BUT to turn off power tools THAT button worked. I have no idea how to fix this. I am running xp home with 40 gig hd.. 768 megs of ram speed is about 2100 mg .. emachine. should be plenty, I am also running aol 9.0 security edition with the virus scan and firewall.. no aol spyware. I use spybot. I am networked to another computer for internet access. with quick time running, windows registry repair pro, something called s3 control taskbar utility. what gets me is I was using it for 3 days without registering it and was only registered for 3 days when this occured.

Have you updated Windows recently?
Launch IE > Click on Tools > Windows Update. Click on Express to start the scanning process. Download any available "High Priority Updates"
There isn't anything listed in your System Information Report that would indicate a problem. There are a few programs (including the AOL Safety and Security -- which does contain a Spyware program) that I think you should disable from loading with Windows.
1. Click on START > Select "Run". 2. Type in MSCONFiG and hit Enter. 3. Click over to the Startup tab. 4. Remove the checkmarks next to the following items:
AdaptecDirectCD HostManager AOLSPScheduler sscRun S3TRAY2 SunJavaUpdateSched QuickTime Task NeroFilterCheck
5. Click on Apply > OK. 6. At the prompt to Restart your computer click on "NO" 7. Close any neccessary programs/documents and restart your computer.

I do still get like 2 buddy lists one over the other now they are both complete instead of one being just a white box. I have to close the top one out and it closes both out then reboot it.. after that it does work most of the time. but sure seems to be useing a lot of memory still. also I dont know if it has any bearing. I am signed on with cable using another computer as a gateway so internet sharing is possible. I know this loads other things up and I have no idea what I can take out.. Fay

Fay, could you post an updated System Information Report? The one we're looking at is pretty outdated now.
Please follow these directions to post the BPS System Information Report:
Click on START, point to (All) Programs > BPS Software > BPS System Info. Once the fields fill with text, click on the "Copy to Clipboard" button.
In your reply message board post, simply right-click and select "Paste"
