I'm having problems with my active status bar again. It's not showing up and also, my IM window is all messed up: only a few buttons show up on it, most of the window is blank, my icon does not display, when someone IMs me their screen name does not show up either. It says "untitled".
I read through the posts about the active status bar since I've had that problem before but when I looked for the *.LYT files to delete, they were in the recycle bin. So what's the next step? To uninstall Powertools and reinstall them? One more thing, when I try to get out on the Web, sometimes it says "there is no page to display". What's up with that? Is it AOL or what? To reboot all the time is a pain in the arse.

I read through the posts about the active status bar since I've had that problem before but when I looked for the *.LYT files to delete, they were in the recycle bin. So what's the next step? There may have been some in your Recycle Bin from the previous time you went through those steps, but are you sure you looked closely at all the *.LYT files found? If you've been using PowerTools, then there should be some *.LYT files in one of the PowerTools sub-folders too. PowerTools does not modify web browsing in any way, so this problem is related to Internet Explorer and/or AOL. The Buddy List problem is likely an AOL problem also, as PowerTools only displays the data available through AOL. If you are still experiencing problems with your PowerTools Status Bar, please post your BPS system information following these steps: 1. Click the Windows "Start" button. 2. Click your mouse on "All Programs" to get a list of all installed programs on your system. 3. Click your mouse on the "BPS SoftWare" program group. 4. Click on "BPS System Info" and wait for the window to load completely. 5. Once fully loaded, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button on the "BPS System Info" window (nothing will happen visibly -- please do not copy anything else to the Windows Clipboard until finished.) 6. Click the "Reply" button in this thread, right click in the message body, and then select "Paste" from the menu. This will paste your complete system info in your post. 7. Click the "Post Message" button.

This is the culprit for your missing active status bar. Deleting the *.LYT files (which must be in your C:\Program Files\PowerTools 12\Tools folder) will solve the problem. Once you delete these files and launch PowerTools 12 again, they'll be recreated automatically. So the files must exist on your computer.
If you're having browsing issues with AOL I would first make certain your AOL browser cache is emptied, then restart your computer.
Keyword: BROWSER SETTINGS > Clear my Footprints tab > Select Footprints to Clear button. Make certain at least Browser Cache is checked, then click on the Clear Selected Footprints button.

Does the Active Status bar load at all? Is the option within PowerTools enabled (PowerTools red drill icon > Customize PowerTools > General Preferences > Show Active Status Bar -- try checking and unchecking to sort of *kick start* this feature)?
I'm going to give you directions on how to reset the registry data for the PowerIM, let me know if this solves your IM problem:
**Exit PowerTools** Click on START > Point to RUN > Type in REGEDiT and hit Enter. Double click on the following folders:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software BPS SoftWare PowerTools 12
Right click on each of these folders > Select Delete: PowerIM PowerIM Options PowerIMF2
If you still have problems, please post another System Information Report.
Thank you!
