Carol, You responded to my problem as follows: 1. Click the Windows "Start" button.
2. Click your mouse on "All Programs" to get a list of all installed programs on your system.
3. Click your mouse on the "BPS SoftWare" program group.
4. Click on "BPS System Info" and wait for the window to load completely.
5. Once fully loaded, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button on the "BPS System Info" window (nothing will happen visibly -- please do not copy anything else to the Windows Clipboard until finished.)
6. Click the "New Thread" button in the appropriate board and type a subject, right click in the message body, and then select "Paste" from the menu. This will paste your complete system info in your post.
7. Click the "Post Message" button. « Last Edit: Today at 12:40pm by Carole » So, I clicked start, and have NO ALL PROGRAMS (I am on XP PRO - Does that matter?) so went to programs and only have Power Tools, looked in windows, and then did a search of the computer for BPS System with nothing found. My IM box still disappears if I try to bring the chat room forward, and this does NOT happen if Power Tools is not active.

Search your computer for the following file: bpssi1.exe Here are directions:
1. Click on START > on the right-side pane Select SEARCH 2. Search for bpssi1.exe (you can copy and paste this) 3. Change the "Look In:" to search your C:\ drive 4. Click on "Search Now" button. 5. When the file is found, double-click on this file then follow the directions outlined below:
Once fully loaded, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button on the "BPS System Info" window (nothing will happen visibly -- please do not copy anything else to the Windows Clipboard until finished.)
Click the "Reply" button in this thread, right-click in the message body, and then select "Paste" from the menu. This will paste your complete system info in your post.

OK, I did what you suggested. I found the file. I double clicked it. Windows cannot open the file. I either don't have the application or don't have permission to open it. I closed the search folder, and went to Windows Explorer. I went to the file (knew exactly where it was due to the search), and tried again. Same result. It won't open. Of course, I did not expect it to the second time, but it was worth the try.

Why don't you try and reinstall PowerTools. This will recreate the START menu options as well as install any missing files. Navigate to www.bpssoft.com and click on the Downloads button.

Before I contacted you on Thursday, I reloaded BOTH AOL and PowerTools. I also ran Norton AntiVirus, Spy Sweeper, AdAware, and SpyZapper. So, have done that, with NO change at all. What I discovered this morning is that sometimes the IM box is on the DeskTop behind AOL, and when there it is on the Windows tool bar too. BUT, then again, often it is not there, including twice this morning when I moved everything around and it just was not anywhere. I did this because the sound said I had a new IM. Just to keep your advice running, though, I did reinstall PowerTools again this afternoon. No dice. When it is missing, it also is not on the PT tool bar. BUT, if I IM that person, the ENTIRE chat is back (for a few minutes anyway).

Norton and SpySweper sometimes falsely identifies the components of our software as Spyware. This is not the case, our programs do not contain Spyware.
Run your Spyware programs, delete anything found > reinstall PowerTools 12 > run your Spyware programs > Add the items found to the "Always Ignore" list.

Did that, but the IM box still disappears often, or ends up now on the Windows Desktop.

The spyware programs did not delete anything to do with PowerTools. They did find another spyware program parts, and I removed the entire program.

You previously wrote: º The spyware programs did not delete anything to do with PowerTools. They did find º another spyware program parts, and I removed the entire program. That's part of the problem -- some spyware utilities confuse our program with others and mark it as spam. I've seen PowerTools marked as various spyware titles in the past -- which makes it difficult to determine if it's blocking the wrong files or not. My suggestion outlined in this post, here, is the best method of preventing PowerTools from being accidently deleted by spyware utilities. It also sounds as if you have the PowerIM set to "Float" (this allows it to be used outside of the AOL/PowerTools box. Click on the IMs button on the bottom right side of your monitor (the cassette icon), make certain "Float IMs" is not checked.
