I noticed this starting about a month ago, not precisely at the same time that I upgraded to Trend Micro Pro, but in the same time frame, loosely. I can work for 3 hours writing a game, making some custom greetings, coloring macroes, widget by widget, and it's all for naught. I open the program in a day or two or three, and it has reverted to the evaluation mode again. I have looked through the sites list in the 'manage cookies' section of Trend Micro, in case that was at the root of this, but there's no site name in there that even hints at having anything to do with PT's, ie BPS, etc. It maddening to have to re-do every single bit of work that I'd just done days earlier. Has anyone else had this sort of problem? BTW, I am on Windows XP Home, so this isn't a Vista problem.

Heya!
Typically things like this only happen when 1) AOL is corrupt and needs to be re-isnstalled (2) the file PowerTools reads which holds your screen name data is corrupt and needs refreshed.
Lets start with the easiest of the two options first...
Exit PowerTools. Visit Keyword: NAMES (this will refresh the file PowerTools reads) Exit AOL. Launch PowerTools and AOL. Type in your registration number.
If the above steps didn't help, it's possible you need to reinstall AOL. Which version of AOL and PowerTools are you using? I can help you find a compatible download.

Jeromy, your 'simplest fix' seems to have done the trick. A quick detour through Keyword:Names and a restart, and all the info I've re-entered into PT's since Friday is still there, after a half dozen restarts. I am remaining cautiously optimistic, and sending you my heartfelt thanks!!

Well, it changed back on me, Jeromy. I'm so mad over this, but I'm hoping that saving the macroes and such in those files ( I can't recall the extension now) will mean they're still in there once we get this figured out. To answer your question, my PT version is 12.0.38, and I have Windows XP Media Center Edition OS, not XP Home as reported earlier, and AOL 9.0 SE.
Thanks for your help thus far! I hope you'll continue to help me get to the bottom of this.

Try downloading AOL 9.0 Optimized from here: oldversion.com/program.php?n=aolYou'll need to install the program, sign on and off a few times -- this will allow you to gather all of the udpates at sign off, before trying to load PowerTools with this new AOL. Let me know your results!

Rocky and Carole ... thanks for staying 'here' for 'us'. In reading the posts ... I recently reinstalled AOL 9.0 Optimized SE FROM 9.0 Security Edition SE ... as constantly getting 'frozen/AOL NOT RESPONDING' when in a critial point hosting an online meeting. Works somewhat better with BPS 12.037 but am still getting occasional BPS error messages that 'a part of AOL 9.0 is not functioning....' I just now downloaded from Rocky's sig line ... BPS 12.038 .... hope this will correct the AOL problems and reduce my stress level when have responsibilities 'live' online. Many thanks... MaryAnn

MaryAnn A number of things could force that message to be delivered from AOL. A few that come to mind: slow connection, corrupt AOL installation (even choosing to "upgrade" on a new install can transfer that corrupt file from on AOL to another), or program conflictions. If you want to post the BPS System Information Report I can look it over to see if there are any suggestions I could make regarding your system. Click on START > Point to (All) Programs > BPS Software > BPS System Info. Once this utility loads, and all fields fill with text, click on the 'Copy to Clipboard' button (you won't see or hear anything happen). Return to the message board, right-click > Select 'Paste'. Also, if you don't mind, please start a new thread when posting. Sometimes it gets hard for myself, and the original creator of this thread, to follow the relating posts. Also, having a topic that closely relates to the conversation allows other users to benefit from the information. To start a new thread: From the main BPS Software Help Forum website, click on PowerTools for AOL > Other PowerTools features. On the large red bar, click on the "New Thread" icon on the right side.
