I have a question, my friend and I run two separate chats on AOL, we both run Power Tools

12.37 along with AOL9.0 There are sometimes people come in with clones/bots and run a

program/tool called a lag program it send various designs into the chat including HTML

freezing our computers or knocking us offline which it does with some users. My friend

has a newer faster processor then I, we both have the same amount of ram, my friend

using Power Tools through her room owner toolS is able to eject all the clones/bots and I

can't, is it because of her better processor? There is no other reason I can think of, please help.

I know this doesn't sound like it should be coming from a tech but at this moment I can not remember the set up that some of the PT users have suggested to kick the bots out. Ask your friend EXACTLY what they have set up in the PT Room Owner Tools, I do not go into chats so I can't at this time remember what the set up is that some of the users have found to work. If your friend can't figure it out I will do more research fo find which one it is to kick them out, I know they can be extrememly annoying. Give that a try and again, if you can't figure it out let me know and I will search it out until I find the correct one.

Also you may want to upgrade your AOL as you are working with an older revision, you may want to do that first and then set up the room owner tools. When you go to Keyword: Upgrade it is going to tell you you already have the latest AOL becuase you already have AOL 9 but there is a later revision of AOL 9 so click on download anyway and downloand and install. This way you have the newest one. Don't use a CD as when they hit the public they are usually already older, the newest ones are at Keyword: Upgrade. :-)

I already know how to set it up to kick the clones/bots out with the room owner tools, it just does not work on my computer. I haven't thought about upgrading my AOL, However I am reluctant cause I hardly ever get knocked offline with this version I am using (if it ain't broke don't fix it right)? but I am almost positive it is my processor clock speed 733 MHz, I thought you might have known, maybe time to but a new machine. But I will get back to you and tell you what I find out, how long will this post stay posted?

Addendum:

I doubt your processor speed has much to do with your inability to boot the member out of the room.
I'd make certain under the Tools tab, when you are the room owner, that you have "Enable Owner Tools" is checked.

Also, keeping the amount of background programs running while AOL/PowerTools is opened will allow more processor to be used for these two programs.

Have you updated Windows lately?

Have you completed a Scandisk/Defrag on your system lately?

I'd also ask your friend if she is using a list of banned words, that might help aid in kicking unwantd visitors out.

Yes, I can tell you don't enter the chats to much by your response...lol...no disrepect, my friend is able to auto eject the clones using the room owner tools by placing the HTML design in the word ban list. If I am home I can easily turn on an anti-lagger and boot them myself, the problem is when I am away from computer or not home. I really am convinced more now that it is my Clock Speed and Front Side Bus on the processor, cause everyone that is able to boot the clones have at least a 1.8 gig processor, whereas the ones that can't have under 1 gig.

My "Enable Owner Tools" is checked at all times. My Windows is in fact updated...I have not performed a scan disk or defrag lately. I am very experienced with AOL chat rooms, i have been running them way before power tools came out with PT12 and room owner tools, i could almost say chat rooms are my area of expertise, i just wanted your opinion on my theory about the Processor being the culprit in my computers inability to boot the numerous clones that "lag" rooms, i will keep you posted and thanks for your input :-)
