When I am in a chat room I can see my smilies as artwork, however, when others type smilies all I see is a pair of brackets like this: []. What can I do to see other's smiles as artwork?

When I am in a chat room I can see my smilies as artwork, however, when others type smilies all I see is a pair of brackets like this: []. What can I do to see other's smiles as artwork? Lets try this, while in a Chat room, in the upper left hand corner of the Chat you should see an AOL Icon, click on that, then click Chat Preferences, take the check OUT of Display smilies as Art. On the bottom of the Chat room you should see a Smiley. Click on that, then click Display smilies as art, then make sure in the circle you have the mark next to Enable Smilie Art in PowerChat View. Let me know if this helps please. :-) BPS TBear :-)

Sorry, your suggestion did not work. I can still see my smilies - but I still cannot see smilies used by anyone without powertools. <sigh>

Please try the following:
Go into a chat room and type only this exact text in the chat send line and send it to the chat room (this will not be seen by members in the chatroom with you): /smile/
If that doesn't work, do this: 1. Click the AOL icon on the chat room toolbar, then click Chat Preferences. Uncheck the option to "Display Smilies as Art", then click the Save button.
2. Click the Chat+ icon on your main PT toolbar, then click PowerChat Preferences, then click the Misc Options tab. Make sure that "Display Chat List Icons" has a checkmark next to it. Close the PowerChat Preferences window.
