I have my enabe auto owner return on. how, and why. can i possibly lose the bolt. also freeze up in the chat room the tex will not enter on the screen. The lightening bolt is an AOL feature and I believe as long as you are a room owner, that will stay next to your name. I will ask around and if I find anything different I will be sure to let you know. BPS TBear

I have two things to note about this...
1. Click on the "People Here" tab on the chat room window to refresh the people listing. Does that show the lightning bolt?
2. If you experience frequent chat room freezes that could be a number of things... poor connection to the internet, a lot of unnecessary programs running in the background, or outdated software (AOL, PowerTools, or Windows). Post the BPS System Information Report, that might help uncover any problem areas:
Please follow these directions to post the BPS System Information Report:
1. Click the Windows "Start" button.
2. Click on "All Programs" to get a list of all installed programs on your system.
3. Click on the "BPS SoftWare" program group.
4. Click on "BPS System Info" and wait for the window to load completely.
5. Once fully loaded, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button on the "BPS System Info" window (nothing will happen visibly -- please do not copy anything else to the Windows Clipboard until finished.)
6. Click the "Reply" button in this thread, right-click in the message body, and then select "Paste" from the menu. This will paste your complete system info in your post.

That is an older, patched version of AOL. The most stable build available at Keyword: UPGRADE hasn't given me any problems.
Also, did clicking on the "People Here" tab in the chatroom bring back your Room Owner Icon?
... Do you experience any freezes in any other programs? Or only while in the chat room?

No Rocky clicking on the people tab in the chatroom did not bring my room owner icon back. I lost the room and the bolt. I only freeze in the chat room and i think that is how i lost the bolt in the room. I had my enable room owner fix to auto reject bots and that was not even working cause i froze up i could not even type in the room. One other person was in the room and she clicked out of the room and clicked back in the room and come back being the room owner.

Try these suggestions: Disable Microsoft Debugger MachineThis program is very resource intensive and isn't needed. Disable it following these directions: - Click on START
- Point to RUN
- Type in Services.MSC and hit Enter.
- Double click on "Microsoft Debugger Machine"
- Change from Automatic startup to "Manual"
- Click on the STOP button
- Click on the "OK" button and close the Services Window.
Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs: - Click on START
- Click on RUN
- Type in MSCONFiG and hit Enter
- Click over to the Startup tab
- Remove the checkmarks next to the following items:
QuickTime Task HostManager LVCOMSX LogitechVideoRepair LogitechVideoTray TkBellExe
- When finished, hit Apply > OK. Restart your computer.
--> Let me know if these changes made any difference.

Rocky I will try this and see if it works and let you know, you said something that confused me in your reply yesterday and I would like for you too be more specific if you could. You said this is an older, patched version of AOL. The most stable build available at keyword:UPGRADE.My PT'S are upgraded,I have the most updated version which is 12.0.34.

You are correct, you have the latest version of PowerTools, but you don't have the latest version of AOL. Keyword: UPGRADE is where you obtain the latest version of AOL.
The version you have received a download when you signed off a while ago which "patched" your version to include the latest fixes from AOL. Keyword: UPGRADE already has the "patches" coded into it for maximum stability.
I hope this helps clear everything up.

loll Rocky it does not quiet clear it up for me. please forgive me but im new to the computer world you said I dont have the latest version of aol . I thought AOl 9.0 security edition was the latest version. that is what I have Yes, you do have AOL security and I can understand you feeling you have the latest version. Exactly what happens is when AOL comes out with a version, they come out with many Revisions within that which happens as they make upgrades to that version. So what I am saying, is AOL Security, had different Revision numbers to that one program. When you click on Help on your top toolbar, about AOL, then the fourth line down in Red, the Revision number you want to see there is 4148.2340. This is the latest Revision number they have out now for AOL Security. So you would need to go to Keyword: type in Upgrade, it is going to tell you you already have the latest version since you already have AOL 9.0..click on download anyway...this will give you that revision number. This one contains all the upgrades AOL has made since releasing AOL 9 Security. I hope I have cleared this up for you, if not, don't hesitate to ask any question you are unsure of. BPS TBear :-)

While the owner of a chat room, click on the Tools tab and make certain "Enable Owner Tools" is checked.
Also, you might want to visit this site on AOL, it offers details on how the Owner Tools operate:
While in AOL follow these directions:
1. Hit CTRL+K together to bring open a Keyword window
2. Copy and Paste this into the Keyword window: aol://4344:1344.roomtool.10162651.755053285
3. Hit Enter.
------
Also, you can have more than one installation of AOL on a computer at once. If you're able too, you can install AOL on the computer your using and use your own Account. This will prevent you from signing on as a guest.
What I do is rename the current AOL Icons to the account holders name (for instance: Jims AOL), then when you install AOL again rename the new icons to your name (Donnas AOL)
