AOL recently issued an AIM update, ver. 5.9.6089, related to Expressions issues. Unfortunately, IM Frame will no longer integrate with this AIM version. It will appear to work as expected on the first launch, but will not engage on subsequent launches of IM Frame. Is BPS Software aware of this issue and will a maintenance release to resolve this problem be issued? I'm genuinely concerned about this question noting the last maintenance release is dated 10/5/2004.

Rusty, I'll look into this. If there is an issue with this newer build of AIM and IM Frame I'll submit a bug report to the programmer.
Give me until tomorrow afternoon to check into this. I will post my results here so you can review them.

Rusty, I"ve installed the latest AOL 5.9 client and I cannot seem to "break" IM Frame.
What exacty happens after you load IM Frame/AIM together once?
Also, please post your System Information Report.
Click on START > Point to BPS Software > BPS System Info. Once this utility loads, wait for the fields to fill with text. Click on the "Copy to Clipboard" button. In your reply message board post, simply right-click > Select Paste.

Rocky,
Thanks for getting back to me. On the first launch of IM Frame it works fine. However, during the same Windows session (wont occur if PC is restarted) IM Frame cannot hook the IM's again on any subsequent launch of IM Frame. Right clicking on the System Tray icon and selecting "Open IM Frame" does nothing. Double clicking on the icon launches an AIM IM window that is not hooked by IM Frame. BPS System info is copied.

This doesn't occur for me. I can chat with IM Frame/AIM 5.9.6089, then I can exit the two applications and IM Frame will hook AIM again after the second launch.
Out of curiosity, have you tried to reinstall IM Frame yet?

I have reinstalled AIM and IM Frame and the problem still is occurring. Just out of curiosity from reading other posts, is your test PC updated with all the Windows Updates? Do you have any other suggestions that I might try? Can you check with the programmer to see if he has any suggestions?

I have completely updated Windows. I actually just reformated not to long ago (less than a week ago) so this system is updated and hardly has any excess programs installed yet.
... On a side note, the only thing I see that is different from your System Information Report and mine is that we have three files that are either older/newer than each others.
Yours: C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSREPL35.dll 3.51.3007.1 newer C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSJet35.dll 3.51.3203.0 newer C:\WINDOWS\system32\Mscomctl.ocx 6.1.95.45 older
Mine: C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSREPL35.dll 3.51.2404.0 C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSJet35.dll 3.51.2723.0 C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX 6.1.97.82
I would try locating: Mscomctl.ocx on your computer, right-click on it, select > Rename. Rename the file to MSCOMCTL.OCX_OLD. Then restart your computer and reinstall IM Frame again.
Let me know your results.
Also, if you'd like, zip those three files of your up and send them to me. I'll see if I can duplicate your results with your versions of those files. Email: BPSRocky@aol.com (you may need to right-click > Copy the file to your desktop in order to email them).

I completed the steps you outlined and am still having the issue. Of note: the Mscomctl.ocx file that was recreated on reinstalling IM Frame on my system is still the older version 6.1.95.45. Any thoughts?

None of your Antispyware/Antivirus programs are preventing IM Frame from loading are they?

No, I disabled both VirusScan and Personal Firewall Plus on startup and the problem remains.
I have found a work around that I will share here in case anyone else has these issues, and maybe the programmer might gain some insight as well. Once the unhooked IM is displayed, I can select "Reset I.M. Frame IM's" from the I.M. Frame Options menu and I.M. Frame will open and hook the IM.

Are you still having to complete this work-around?
I've asked numerous people about this and none can duplicate your problem.

I'm glad you left a follow up message -- I checked and I am no longer experiencing the problem. The only major software change I have made recently is the installation of McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007. Version 2005 update subscription expired recently necessitating the change. Hope this information might be useful.

I am unaware of any issues between McAfee IS 05 and IM Frame, but I am glad to see that everything is in working order again.
Thanks for the reply and extra information.
