Hi there,
I'm currently running the most recent version of PowerTools. A recent spyware scan turned up WatchRight on my system. I've never downloaded this software.
I know that PT is technically a keystroke logger, (of the good variety). Is this WatchRight file my spyware dr found a part of PT? Does it allow the logging functionality of PT?
Not sure I want to rid my system of this file if it's going to prevent PT from making logs in the futre.
Below is the list of Files (files, DLL, HKEYS) found:
DLL File: %program_files%\watch right\bpscomm.dll
Files: %profile%\application data\bps software\wbps47l.wdt %program_files%\watch right\bpscomm.dll %program_files%\watch right\bpssi1.exe %program_files%\watch right\rwfaa.plh %program_files%\watch right\wrclock.exe %program_files%\watch right\wrin.inz %programs%\bps software\bps system info.lnk %programs%\bps software\watch right.lnk %program_files%\watch right\bpscomm.dll %program_files%\watch right\wrclock.exe %program_files%\watch right\bpssi1.exe
Registry Items: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{38d5592b-1b6f-4f9b-9879-58b696405ac1} HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\interface\{7bd2eff2-817c-11da-b913-00a0c9e16dee} HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\typelib\{91b2e6e3-96ee-4afa-a5ea-90d2f8f6909a} HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\wrie.clsiewr HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\bps software\watch right HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\bps software\watch right HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\browser helper objects\{38d5592b-1b6f-4f9b-9879-58b696405ac1} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\watch right
Please advise, thanks so much!!

Lady Dove said,
Those are indeed components of Watch Right. At some point you must have installed the program as it never does a silent or self-install. Regardless if you aren't a registered user, you should remove the program. This and PowerTools are two completely separate programs, removing it will not prevent logging IMs, Chats, etc.. .
You can use the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel and just double-click on "Watch Right" to begin the uninstall process.
Two more things:
1. Which Spyware remover was that? (I like the way it groups data together) 2. If PowerTools does stop working, it might be caused by the removal of shared system files, you can simply reinstall using the link within my signature.
