I am the humiliated recipient of AOL parental controls. My wife installed them along with Internet Access Control after some provocation and justification on my part. But unless I provide her with an easy to use method by which she can read and review every email and IM, she is unwilling to add to my very limited list of recipients.
Questions: 1. does she have to log onto my computer in order to read the log file? Could she read it from her computer if it was shared? 2. what kind of password control do you maintain. Would I be able to call and get the password reset? 3. How difficult is it to uninstall? I have been reduced from administrator to "limited" on the computer. Essentially I can't even uninstall "normal" programs without help from my "parent"
Don't blame my wife. I earned this humiliating punishment.

Questions: 1. does she have to log onto my computer in order to read the log file? Could she read it from her computer if it was shared? She will need to use the computer onto which Watch Right was installed to view the logs. If the monitoring user forgets the password they have set to open the program, there is another way available to open it and set a new password. We cannot reset the password for you though. Once monitoring is disabled from the program's main control panel (which can only be accessed using the password set by the main user), Watch Right can be uninstalled from Windows' "Add or Remove Programs" feature.

Carole,
The software must be installed on the same computer. What about the same user on that computer that needs to be supervised? I'm assuming that it will have to be installed as my user. There are two users on my computer, me and the "parent" user. I have a "limited" account which is appropriate for me as the "child." If the software has to be installed in the "child" user, then how can she do that? Will she have to log into the "child"user in order to view the log?

Watch Right must be installed and started from the administrator account. Logs can only be viewed from the administrator account, with all other users on this computer logged off.
All Windows user accounts on the computer will be logged by Watch Right, but to switch from one Windows account to another, everyone needs to use the "Log Off" feature, not the "Switch" feature ('When you click the Start button, at the bottom you see "Log off <name>." If you click that, you have a Switch Option and a Log Off option. Use the Log Off option.)

But what if I get up in the morning, turn on the computer and login to my "child" account. Will my email be logged even though my "parent" hasn't logged in?

Yes, as long as she has not disabled monitoring from the Watch Right control panel, the program will automatically start whenever Windows is started, and monitor all user accounts regardless of the one you log in with.

Carole,
I can't even tell it's running. She says it is and in fact was REALLY unhappy with me for one email I got and replyed to. She is giving me a consequence for it tonight, but in the meantime, I am to purchase the product.
I tried to purchase the product but it keeps asking me for a serial number? I presume this must be something that you get in the "help about" But of course I can't see that; it only looks like an atomic clock sync. to me. Is there any way that I can get the serial number or am I going to make her doubly unhappy tonight? I doubt I will be able to sit down tomorrow after my consequence.
Thanks Stanley

Yes, the serial number is accessible from the Help > About window, only visible in the WR control panel. I guess you'll have to ask your wife to write it down before you can purchase Watch Right.

Carole,
Is the registration number emailed back after the purchase has been made. She is aware that the registration number provides another password to log in with so if the number isn't emailed then I shouldn't purchase the product for her. I have no doubt that if I saw that number I would be givien another consequence.
I want to complement you and the staff for a fine product. It is a very effective deterent. Now when I email, I think to myself "is this an email that I would share with my parent?" I am more aware and have changed behavior to avoid those consequences that are sure to follow.
QUESTION: Can she also see and read attachments like pictures or documents?
Thanks Stanley

Is the registration number emailed back after the purchase has been made. If you purchase WR online with a credit card, the registration number will be given right away in your web browser window, so maybe it's best if your wife makes the transaction herself. Sorry I didn't think of mentioning this yesterday. No, attachements cannot be logged.
