I have McAfee virus scan and firewall. Will they detect Watch Right? My son is MUCH more computer literate than I am and THIS PROGRAM CANNOT BE DETECTED or it will fail to be useful for monitering him. Also - I read on another post that watch right can be discovered by opening the windows task manager - what is that and how easy is it to open. Would it be listed as "watch right" there? Also - will watch right show up ANYWHERE else? Finally, will it slow down my older computer?

WatchRight is listed as "WREXEC.exe" in the Windows Task Manager. WREXEC.EXE is the main logging component of WatchRight.
Fortunately, even if he finds the file is active he can't terminate or uninstall it without first disabling the program within the access panel (which requires a password or registration number).
McAfee Virus Scan/Firewall should not detect WatchRight.
WatchRight will be listed at START > Programs > BPS Software on your Start Menu and there will be an icon on your desktop. You can remove all of those entries (Right-click > Select Delete) and manually launch WatchRight from it's program directory. Which is: C:\Program Files\WatchRight, double-click on WRClock.exe. Which will launch the camoflouged Time Update clock.
You also shouldn't notice any difference in processing speed on your older computer. However, once you install WatchRight it does come with a built in utility to gather data about your system. You can post the report and I'd be glad to look it over and make any necessary suggestions on how to improve the speed of your computer.
Just click on START > Programs > BPS Software > BPS System Info. Once the fields fill with text, click on the "Copy to Clipboard" button and in you reply post here, right-click > Select Paste.
I hope this helps!

You commented that once I delete the listing of Watch Right in the Start menu and launch Watch Right from it's program directory that it will launch a "camoflouged time update clock". Will that clock show up anywhere on my screen to possibly tip my son off? If so - any way to hide it?

Unless you took the Icon off, you may have an Icon on your dekstop that says Watch right, if you do and you would like to remove it, which if you don't, he can't get into it without a password and is disguised as an Atomic Clock, but if you would feel better to remove it than Right Click on the Icon and click delete, make sure you remove these from your recycle bin so that they can't be found anywhere. I am running Windows XP and Symantic Antivirus is constantly quarantining watchright and disabling it. What can I do to insure that Watchright will continue working and not be identified as spyware/virus by symantic?

Unfortunately I don't use Symantec Antivirus, but there should be an option to "Always Ignore" to prevent this from occuring. You will need to poke around the settings options at the end of the scanning process to see if you can place WatchRight on the Always Ignore list. In most software I've used there is simply a drop down menu you can change from things like: Quaratine, Delete, Ignore, Ignore Always. Perhaps this is the case with your AV.
Hopefully one of the other techs use Symantec and can give step-by-step directions.
