Not logging anything

I get this message after logging into WR:

An error occurred opening the following file:
C:..../administrator.wdt
Please make sure all users are off...
===========

This started when I upgraded to the current release a couple of weeks ago!!! I have removed WR, reinstalled, deleted the *.wdt files, everything you have told others. I want this to work or I want my money back!!!

WR will not even start to log any IM users. It appears to be logging IE sessions OK.

I "thought" this was how to get WR technical support - talk about worthless. WR is a buy it...you are own your own...even if our s/w stinks! I posted my request for help on 9/7 - today is the 11th...nothing to date.

My problem gets better!! Now my PC is spawning wrmont.exe processes!!! I had over twenty today. And the best part - WR is still recording NOTHING!

If you're using Windows XP you need to make certain that any other users are logged off before trying to access WatchRight. If the other users are not logged off, the files are still in use and WatchRight is unable to retreive them. To see which users might be logged in, hit the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter L together. Any user that has "# programs running" next to their user name is still logged in.


I also want you to follow these directions once more, in this order, to completely reset the WatchRight installation.

Step 1: Delete *.WDT files:

Click on START > Search > Search the entire "C" drive (Change the "Look In:" field to your C:\ drive) for this file type: *.WDT
Click on the "Advanced Options" setting and check the following items:
-Search System Folders
-Search hidden files and folders
-Search subfolders
Start the search.
When this file type is found, right-click on this file > Select Delete.

Step 2: Reset WatchRight

1. Launch WatchRight
2. Type in your password to open the access panel
3. Click on Options and choose "Reset WatchRight"
4. Now Close the Access Panel
5. Launch WatchRight
Note: You will be prompted to create a new password.


Please let us know your results.

Rocky...I would love to delete both files:
-> administrator.wdt and wbps.wdt
...BUT I get the message:

"Cannot delete administrator.wdt - sharing violation. the source or destination file is in use"

So...I disabled WR and attempted the search and delete of the files again...same error.

Also - there is nobody else logged in. I am using WIN 2000.

Rocky, I am curious...does BPS Software have a requirement that support staff can not respond to customer requests in less than four days? It is obvious I need to reduce my expectations. From someone who has worked in IT support for over 18 years, I consider BPS support / customer care to be almost non-existent!!

No, we all volunteer and repsond to the message boards when our personal time allows. Unfortunately I've been busier this past week than normal.

I am curious though, exactly when does the error message occur? Immediately after you type in your password and hit enter?
Are you able to open and view the access panel at all?
If you can view the contents of the access panel, try these steps:

1. Disable WatchRight
2. Exit the Access Panel.
3. Launch WatchRight.
4. Type in your password and hit Enter.

Does the same error message generate when WatchRight is *NOT* enabled? Also, are you able to view the logs now?

Please let me know the results ASAP.

Addendum to my other post:

Lets try to disable WatchRight, then delete the WDT files -- here are the directions necessary to complete this task:

1. Launch WatchRight (START > Programs > BPS Software > WatchRight)
2. Type in your password and hit Enter
3. Click on "Disable WatchRight"
4. Click on EXIT

Restart your computer, then complete the following steps to try and delete the WDT file:

Click on START > Search > Search the entire "C" drive (Change the "Look In:" field to your C:\ drive) for this file type: *.WDT
Click on the "Advanced Options" setting and check the following items:
-Search System Folders
-Search hidden files and folders
-Search subfolders
Start the search.
When this file type is found, right-click on this file > Select Delete.

Once you've deleted the files you can launch WatchRight and re-enable logging.

Please let us know the results.
