I recently had to reinstall Windows XP and all my programs.
I downloaded fresh copies of AOL 9.0 and PT 12.0.38. Then I copied Tool Bars, Address Book and Custom Phrase Editor from a saved copy of PT into the new PT directory. I opened Address Book and Custom Phrase Editor and used the File to open the "old" Address Book and Custom Phrase Editor that I had transferred into the new PT directory.
Both files are empty. There are no addresses and no custom phrases. The "Old" files have the right size to indicate that they have data, yet they display as empty.
Also, the old Tool Bars don't load.
What have I done wrong?
Thanks so much for your help!

Does the PT Address Book and Custom Phrase Editor display all available "fields"? Most times, the window panes shift and users aren't able to see the entire contents because the panes are hidden.
For the Toolbar, did you right-click > properities > load and load the correct Toolbar Layout file?

Hi...Thanks for your reply.
Yes...all the fields of the Address Book are displayed. The Address Book displays normally, but there are ZERO records displayed.
On the Address Book toolbar under "Book" I have selected the old book that I moved to the new PT directory. When you "right click" on the file in the directory, it indicates that the size is correct. In other words, it is much larger than the "empty" file that you first get when you install PT so that indicates that the file is not empty. Yet there are no records.
I have re-installed PT before and have never had a problem with just copying the old Address Book and Custom Phrases into the new directory and opening them. Do you have any idea what is wrong?
I have dozens of records in my Address Book that I need to retrieve. Please help!
Thanks again!

Check to see if the new file is marked as "read-only". Sometimes when you copy a file it changes the file properties.

None of the files were marked "read only".
I inadvertently associated the Address Book file as a "Wordpad" file when I checked the attributes. Now those files are marked as "Wordpad". Does that make a difference?
Is there some way to open those files to look at the date so I could at least read the records?
Also, I see that those are ".mbd" files for Microsoft Office Access. I do not have MS Office installed. Does that make a difference?
I have a back-up copy of PT on another drive. Should I download a new fresh installation of PT and try again to use the back-up Address Book? Also, I am using PT 9.0. Previously, I had AOL 9.0SE before I had to reinstall my software.
Thanks again for all your help.

Navyo, The associate type of the Address Book won't make a different. Provided you don't open the file within wordpad (that could change the format of the information and make it unreadable by PTs). Also, you don't need to have Office installed. It just happens to be the same extension name, but they are not cross-compatible. Do you know how to take a screen shot? graphicssoft.about.com/cs/general/ht/winscreenshot.htmI would like a screen shot of the AddressBook. You can store it on www.imageshack.us for free, then just paste the link here.
