In case anyone would like to backup their PowerTools data to move to another machine, or a new computer, here are the steps I take: 1. Copy the entire C:\Program Files\PowerTools 12 folder. Use your favorite ZIP program to compress the entire PowerTools 12 folder into one file. (You can navigate to C:\Program Files\ and right-click on the PowerTools 12 folder > Select "Add to PowerTools 12.zip" -- your ZIP program might have something different.) 2. Back up the BPS Software Registry DataThe Windows Registry stores all the custom settings you've changed for PowerTools. This will also back up your registration data. WARNING: Do not make any changes to the registry. Any changes could prevent Windows from booting.Click on START > Point to RUN > Type in REGEDiT and hit Enter. Double-click on the following folder icons: My Computer HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Right-click on BPS Software > Select "Export". Type in: BPS Software.REG Save this to your desktop for easy access. 3. Copy the files generated from Step 1 and Step 2 to a CD or an alternate hard drive. ----- To restore these files:1. Expand the PowerTools 12.zip folder to C:\Program Files\ (The final process should give you this location: C:\Program Files\PowerTools 12) 2. Download and Install the last version of PowerTools from: drop.io/bpssoftware3. Locate the BPS Software.REG file and double-click on it. When asked if you want to import this data into the registry, click on "YES". modified: -changed dl location +registry warning
