For the past 5 months, I cannot get PT to launch. I have tried starting AOL first then, starting PT (in addition to starting with the PT icon) but, I just get the upper bar in the window, flashing wildly then, nothing. The only time I can get it to work is by re-installing PT,,,that only lasts for a little while. I even uninstalled AOL and PT and tried it again. Other times, I just get the standard error message that it needs to shut down!
It is basically worthless to me, at this time!
Thanks

Please post the BPS System Information Report. This will supply us with adequate information to quickly isolate the problem.
Directions:
1. Click the Windows "Start" button.
2. Click on "All Programs" to get a list of all installed programs on your system.
3. Click on the "BPS SoftWare" program group.
4. Click on "BPS System Info" and wait for the window to load completely.
5. Once fully loaded, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button on the "BPS System Info" window (nothing will happen visibly -- please do not copy anything else to the Windows Clipboard until finished.)
6. Click the "Reply" button in this thread, right-click in the message body, and then select "Paste" from the menu. This will paste your complete system info in your post.

Jim Poelstra According to your System report, you are missing a critical PT file. My guess would be that your anti-spyware program targeted it for some reason as spyware (it's not) and deleted it. You need to reinstall PT to fix that problem.
Once in reinstall PT, open AOL but do not log on. Then open PT. Then log on. You just need to do that the first time.
You also need to tell your anti-spyware program to ignore or allow 'DWSBC36.OCX'.
Lastly, you have an older version of AOL. The newer version at keyword: UPGRADE has some bugs worked out so you might want to get that and install it.

When you are in the chat room, click on the AOL logo (upper left corner of chat screen)>Chat Preferences and remove the checkmark from "Display Smilies as Art". That disables them in AOL so that PT can show them. If that doesn't fix it, please post again. Katie
