Hi, gang! I'm often in chat when bots enter a room and run a hot-pink '25/f/home alone, pics in profile, IM me!' message...or something very similar. The problem is, different screen names run almost that identical message every 30 seconds or so. Needless to say, it's difficult to pick out real chat. Is there a way PowerTools can be altered to block out chat lines with repeated phrases in it? I could enter 'pics in profile' or something to ignore it, and wouldn't have to see all that blasted advertising. Needless to say, it would be a great PT seller. OMy

The only thing current available within PowerTools is the profanity filter. It works on the same principle... replacing unwanted words with stars: ***
Unfortunately it won't block entire line of text, in your example if I added "home alone" to the profanity filter:
25/f/home alone, pics in profile, IM me! would be replaced with: 25/f/**********, pics in profile, IM me!
I'll bubble up your request to the programmer to have a spam filter for chats.

One minor help: There are usually only about a dozen bots circulating at any given time, and after awhile you'll notice mostly repeat visitors. So I put each on PT's Permanent Ignore. After 30 minutes or so, I seldom see any new ones.
In a related tip, regarding those annoying Buddy Chat Invites: PowerTools only auto-cancels them, so I still see them momentarily and they cause my cursor to lose focus. (I use PT 12.) I now turn off the PT feature and just minimize the first invite that appears. Subsequent ones merely replace the first one, without any visible notice and without affecting my cursor.

Thanks for your help, guys. I would very much appreciate it if the Powers That Be at PT (say that 3 times fast!) would program this into the next revision.
Christopher, I tried your suggestion and now have 110 new names (oddly enough, 99% of them start with K, isn't that odd) in my perm ignore list...and they are still coming. How depressing. Will try and just tolerate the bots, I guess. Not much else for it. =\
But, thanks for the responses!

If i may offer some suggestions... Use the word BAN in your owner tools and add the phrases profile , webcam and IM me. You will nail about 99% of the bots on the first try..

Re: Bots in chat this will take care of the bots in chat room. to auto reject the bots select word and add pics in profile, pixx in profile.picz in profile. grantee it will work. I haven't tried your idea kenogirl462, but I found when I run the auto greeter the porn bots stop not only for me but for everybody in the room, sort of like gagging them. If they don't put their messages in the room they won't be able to make any money, that is one way they use to make money. If you notice at times when more than one bot is in the room, all but one will stop.
