HI Jeromy, I'm enjoying My Power Tools but for whatever reason I'm getting a continueous BPSUpdate. I see this with the Ctrl,Alt Delete. I have seen as many as 30 Updates. I delete or End Task and all is well. What do You think is causing this? How can I stop this Update Glitch? 2nd Question: My Address Book in the New Mail has somehow been deleted. All My Contact People can be used in New Mail only if I go to AOL's address Book. How can I duplicate or rather transport My AOL address's to Power Tool? This problem is making Me feel dense. lol! I'm sure there's a easy way to do this. Thanks for All You do! GCD10 aka IBlaffing

Kathy,
The BPSUPdate.exe was originally designed to periodically to Check for Updates. You can easily go into the Customize PowerTools window and disable the "Check for Updates" option.

Have you checked to see if the addresses are ALSO in the PowerTools Address Book? Because there is no way to import from the AOL Address Book into PowerTools. Years ago this was possible, but AOL started encrypting their data and that functionality had to be removed from PowerTools.
Also, can you describe what you mean by this: "My Address Book in the New Mail has somehow been deleted."?
Does PowerTools enhance mail windows for you still? "

Is it possible that the window panes for the PowerTools Address Book are just not showing the data?

I get those bps updates all the time too, but I am not seeing a "check for updates" to disable them. Be more specific please?

Honestly, I haven't been able to use PowerTools in over 3 years (when I upgraded to Vista and now Windows 7). So I can't give specific directions, I just don't remember.
This is a User-Helping-User forum, so hopefully someone can jump in with specific directions.

Hello Cheeky and Jeromy, ` Top left of your startup page you will see a `PT or `Power Tools symbol` left click and from the menu that appears, left click `customise power tools`, scroll down to the botom of the list and you will see that automatic checks for updates is ticked, just remove the tick, that`s all that is required.
Kind regards, Lesley
P.S Jeromy, where do the years go? seems like only months ago everyone was waiting for newer versions of PT`s and this forum was buzzing, happy days eh.

Lesley,
Thank you very much for the prompt reply! I do miss the days of PowerTools and the Chat Room. Years ago I was much more than just a tech for BPS I've had a long list of things as a CL for AOL too. Rnger (a technical support chat host for aol) which turned to HOST Help I worked for Keyword: LOCAL as a chat host, briefly.. I didn't care for it much And I was also a GUIDE for a number of years all before taking upon my favorite role as BPS Rocky.
I do miss those days and always remember the excitement about being "newest" versions of PowerTools to see how much they changed.
